Text Box: Aromas of dark chocolate and plum precede flavors of black cherry, chocolate and nutmeg, with undertones of sage and notes of oak vanillin. A rare and almost forgotten Bordeaux variety, carmenere is an exotic beauty similar to merlot, with a masculine streak of tobacco and earth. It thrives in the mistral climate and sandy soils of north Paso Robles. Aged sur lies for sixteen months in a combination of new and neutral French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
